A native of West Jefferson, NC, Dr. Bare completed his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. He remained on the teaching faculty of the Wake Forest University Department of Urology as a member of a Multidisciplinary Urologic Oncology Team before moving to Asheville Dr. Bare has practiced Urology in Asheville since 1998.

Dr. Bare's special interests include the treatment and prevention of kidney stones, the diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary cancer, and Vasectomy procedures. Dr. Bare is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

J.G. Cargill III, MD

A native of Virginia, Dr. Cargill completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Cargill has practiced Urology in Asheville since 2008. Cargill's special interests include female pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and prostate cancer. Dr. Cargill is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

James C. Brien, MD

A native of central Texas, Dr. Brien completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Dr. Brien previously practiced in Philadelphia where he expanded the robotic & laparoscopic surgery programs at two community hospitals to encompass urologic conditions. He has practiced Urology in Asheville since 2013.

Dr. Brien also has an interest in complementary medicine, expanding treatment options for most urologic conditions to include both a traditional medicine and alternative medicine pathway. Dr. Brien is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

Michael B. Burris, M.D.

A native of Albemarle, NC, Dr. Burris attended NC State University for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Burris joins Asheville Urological Associates following the completion of his urology residency at the University of Virginia, where he served as the Chief Urology Resident. Dr. Burris' special interests include the diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary cancers, robotic/laparoscopic surgery, hypogonadism (low T), infertility including vasectomy and vasectomy reversals, treatment and prevention of kidney stones, and management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Dr. Burris is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA).

H. Brooks Hooper, M.D.

A native of Gallatin, TN, Dr. Hooper attended Washington and Lee University for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Hooper joins Asheville Urological Associates following 5 years serving as an Urologist in Haywood County. Dr. Hooper's special interests include stone disease, kidney cancer, benign conditions of the prostate, and men's health. Dr. Hooper is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.
